![]() I'm just one competitor of thousands in the North South Skirmish Association and we use lots and lots of caps but CCI current production won't be found anywhere on the line. I go through something like 6k per year for competition and practice. Change one thing of a known performing load and it might behave entirely differently from that you developed. In muzzleloading and shooting accuracy, the components can make or break a load. All that means consistency and consistency coupled with performance are key to accuracy. The cap adds to the pressure curve and how the powder actually burns. The issue here is some folks think that muzzleloading is just about "setting off" the charge but the truth is something else entirely. CCI is probably putting the reenactor caps in a package marked "multiple use" since serious shooters who use lots of caps avoid them like the plague. What musket caps do folks recommend? These are just awful and I want to use this gun for hunting. The caps fail to ignite the powder 90% of the time and I've probably shot 150 caps only firing a total of 20 rounds. ![]() However, my experience with these all around awful musket caps is making me want to throw in the towel. I just bought a 1861 Pedersoli Springfield Repro and am thrilled with the gun. These caps are not adequate for black power or pyrodex shooting. I purchased these CCI musket caps for use in my Inline.50 cal. If you are shooting REAL BLACK POWDER You might not have any issues? It takes very little to ignite Real Blackpowder A Good friend of mine owns a Local Sport Store here, When he bought the Store a Few years ago he ended up with a PILE of these CCi Reenactment Caps from a Mistake by the Previous owner, He couldn’t hardly give them away, He ended up selling them at, or slightly under Cost to Get rid of them But Some say they have no problems with them? They are a MUCH weaker Cap than the German RWS 1081 Musket Caps. I don’t have Hands on Experience With the CCi “Reenactment” Caps, and very little with the RWS 1081s (I shoot #11s EXCLUSIVELY in my Rifles) If you do a Search on CCi “Reenactment“ Musket Caps There is quite a lot of Talk about them across the Net, For the most part they get pretty horrible Reviews.
